General Division (first level)

The first level of appeal to the Social Security Tribunal (SST) is the General Division. The General Division includes an Employment Insurance Section for Employment Insurance appeals and an Income Security Section for Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security appeals.

If an individual disagrees with the reconsideration decision of the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada or the Canada Employment Insurance Commission, he or she may appeal to the SST General Division.
